About Acadia Psychotherapy
Our Eight Core Values at Acadia Psychotherapy
At Acadia Psychotherapy, we are guided by eight core values—drawing inspiration from the Eight Limbs of Yoga. These values support deep, intentional healing and reflect our belief that therapy should be collaborative, embodied, trauma-informed, and grounded in your lived experience.
1. Relational Healing
Healing happens in relationship. We view therapy as a co-created space—built on trust, attunement, and shared insight. You are not alone; we walk beside you with care.
2. Compassion
Compassion is at the heart of what we do. We hold space with empathy, honoring your story, your nervous system, and your natural pace.
3. Emotional Safety
Emotional safety is the foundation for healing. Through a trauma-informed, attachment-based lens, we foster a space where you can explore without fear or shame.
4. Embodiment
The body remembers what words may not. We use somatic practices to help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom and support nervous system regulation.
5. An Integrative Approach
We draw from neuroscience, evidence-based therapy, and holistic traditions to support healing at all levels—mind, body, and spirit.
6. Trauma-Informed & Trauma Sensitive Care
We understand the nuanced and often invisible impacts of trauma. Our work is shaped by a deep respect for your lived experiences, and we move gently—always centering your safety, dignity, and autonomy.
7. Agency
We believe in your capacity to heal. Therapy is a space to reconnect with your voice, your power, and your sense of self. Through insight, choice, and compassionate challenge, we help you cultivate resilience and self-trust.
8. Integration
Healing is not about fixing—it’s about integration. We support the integration of fragmented parts of self and inviting a deeper connection to self.
The Golden Mandala of Healing
Our logo features a golden mandala with eight radiating points, each embodying one of the core values that guide our therapeutic approach. Inspired by the sacred geometry of yoga and Eastern philosophy, the mandala symbolizes wholeness and the journey toward integration and self-connection. It reflects the cyclical nature of healing and the balance between mind, body, and spirit. The gold color represents resilience, transformation, and the inner light we all have—the strength to heal, grow, and thrive.
"Connaît tes racines, porte-les avec fierté, même si elles ont poussé dans la boue."
("Know your roots, carry them with pride, even if they grew in the mud.")
Our History
Acadia Psychotherapy was founded by Elizabeth Boudreau-Boyer, inspired by her personal journey through challenges and her commitment to mental health and holistic healing. With a background as a psychotherapist and yoga teacher, Elizabeth established Acadia Psychotherapy & Associates and Rising Woman Wellness Retreats to offer a space for individuals to embark on their path of healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. Rooted in evidence-based therapy and wellness practices, Elizabeth’s approach emphasizes empowerment, resilience, and lasting transformation within a compassionate, professional environment.
The name Acadia honors Elizabeth’s French Acadian/Cajun heritage, tracing back to her ancestor Michel Boudrot/Boudreau, who emigrated from France to Nova Scotia in 1639. The Acadians’ resilience through adversity—especially during the Great Expulsion of 1755—shaped their journey to Louisiana’s Acadiana region, where they rebuilt their lives and contributed to the area’s vibrant cultural identity. This legacy of overcoming hardship and creating strong, supportive communities inspires our approach to therapy.
At Acadia Psychotherapy, we are dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their emotional well-being, heal from trauma, and rediscover their sense of purpose. -Elizabeth Boyer, Founder
In the spirit of the Acadian people, we create a safe, compassionate space for growth and healing—supporting each person to connect with their true self, find peace, and thrive.
