About Acadia Psychotherapy
Our Eight Core Values at Acadia Psychotherapy
At Acadia Psychotherapy, we are guided by eight core values—
drawing inspiration from the Eight Limbs of Yoga—that serve as the foundation
for deep, purposeful healing and growth. These principles shape our work
and reflect our belief that therapy should be collaborative, embodied, trauma-informed,
and grounded in the wisdom of your lived experience.
1. Relational Healing & Co-Creation
Healing unfolds within safe, attuned relationship. We honor therapy as a collaborative process—one built on trust, mutual respect, and shared insight. You are not alone here. We walk beside you with care and presence.
2. Compassion & Nervous System Attunement
Compassion is the heartbeat of our work. We offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you are met with deep empathy and nervous system awareness. We honor your pace, your story, and your right to heal in your own way.
3. Emotional Safety & Secure Attachment
Emotional safety is the foundation of transformation. Through a trauma-sensitive and attachment-informed lens, we create a steady and supportive environment where you can explore, feel, and reconnect—without fear or shame.
4. Somatic Awareness & Embodiment
The body holds what words sometimes cannot. We integrate somatic practices that help you listen to your body’s wisdom, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself from the inside out.
5. An Integrative, Depth-Oriented Approach
We use an integrative, depth-oriented approach that draws from evidence-based practices, interpersonal neurobiology, and holistic wisdom traditions. This allows us to hold space for the full complexity of your healing process—mind, body, and spirit—while supporting deeper self-awareness, emotional integration, and lasting change.
6. Trauma-Sensitive & Attachment-Aware Care
We understand the nuanced and often invisible impacts of trauma. Our work is shaped by a deep respect for your lived experiences, and we move gently—always centering your safety, dignity, and autonomy.
7. Agency & Authority
We believe in your capacity to heal. Therapy is a space to reconnect with your voice, your power, and your sense of self. Through insight, choice, and compassionate challenge, we help you cultivate resilience and self-trust.
8. Integration & Alignment
Healing is not about fixing—it’s about remembering. We support the integration of fragmented parts of self and the emergence of a more whole, grounded, and aligned you.
The Golden Mandala of Healing
Our logo features a golden mandala with eight radiating points, each representing one of the core values that guide our therapeutic work. The mandala—a symbol of wholeness and sacred geometry, drawn from the rich traditions of yoga and Eastern philosophy—mirrors our belief that healing is a journey toward integration and self-connection. This symbol serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of growth and the balance between mind, body, and spirit. The gold tone reflects resilience, transformation, and the innate capacity within each of us to heal, grow, and reclaim our inner light.
"Connaît tes racines, porte-les avec fierté, même si elles ont poussé dans la boue."
("Know your roots, carry them with pride, even if they grew in the mud.")
Our History
Acadia Psychotherapy was founded by Elizabeth Boudreau-Boyer, inspired by her personal journey through challenges and her commitment to mental health and holistic healing. With a background as a psychotherapist and yoga teacher, Elizabeth established Acadia Psychotherapy & Associates and Rising Woman Wellness Retreats to offer a space for individuals to embark on their path of healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. Rooted in evidence-based therapy and wellness practices, Elizabeth’s approach emphasizes empowerment, resilience, and lasting transformation within a compassionate, professional environment.
The name Acadia honors Elizabeth’s French Acadian/Cajun heritage, tracing back to her ancestor Michel Boudrot/Boudreau, who emigrated from France to Nova Scotia in 1639. The Acadians’ resilience through adversity—especially during the Great Expulsion of 1755—shaped their journey to Louisiana’s Acadiana region, where they rebuilt their lives and contributed to the area’s vibrant cultural identity. This legacy of overcoming hardship and creating strong, supportive communities inspires our approach to therapy.
At Acadia Psychotherapy, we are dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their emotional well-being, heal from trauma, and rediscover their sense of purpose. -Elizabeth Boyer, Founder
In the spirit of the Acadian people, we create a safe, compassionate space for growth and healing—supporting each person to connect with their true self, find peace, and thrive.
